B.C.’s clean tech industry is growing, with around 200 clean tech firms in the province, generating $1.7 billion in revenue, primarily from exports.
We have developed international expertise in supplying products and services in several key clean tech sectors. B.C. specializes in green power generation, energy efficiency, transportation, and industrial processes that create green benefits.
International buyers have already shown keen interest in purchasing technologies such as fuel cells, clean transportation, energy management technologies, renewable energy, and waste and water treatment technologies. Key export markets for B.C. clean tech include the U.S., China, Japan, South Korea, India, Europe and Southeast Asia.
B.C.’s Climate Leadership Plan is supporting the growth of clean tech exports through a number of initiatives, including:
- Unlocking financing to support investments in clean tech development through our carbon tax.
- The Innovative Clean Energy Fund that the Province has used to support 62 clean tech research and demonstration projects since 2008.
- Supporting clean tech sales through trade missions and programs that help clean tech businesses access international markets.
