North Vancouver’s Climate Action Leadership

The City of North Vancouver has shown how communities can make impressive strides to lead in the fight against climate change. It prides itself on being a compact community that puts pedestrians, cyclists, and transit first, and for reducing its corporate emissions by 19 per cent since 2007. Overall community emissions have decreased by 6 per cent between 2005 and 2010.

The city has made this progress through initiatives that focus on sustainable energy, development planning that enhances public transit, building bike and pedestrian routes, and making upgrades to city buildings to make them more energy efficient.
